Therapy method: A cognitive-behavioral 'common sense' style of
determining what it is in your life that keeps you from getting your
needs met. This usually entails balancing the four major influences
on living.
(1) 'Social Pressures': Not losing one's identity to family or to professional
and social relationship wishes or pressures.
(2) 'Close: relationships': Getting dependency needs met without compromise.
("dependency": - 'any need you have that requires the cooperation
of someone else') .
(3) 'Self regard' (or esteem): Developing a fulfilling autonomy and
identity, separate from the wishes or pressures of others, without feeling
'wrong' or guilty about it.
(4) 'Primal needs': Ensuring desires such as sex, drugs, food, and alcohol
do not rule your life.
Experience: With three Masters degrees in human behavior,
(Psychology, Counseling Psychology and Marriage and Family Therapy)
and over 20 years in private
practice, I am skilled at providing the objectivity. You provide the life,
we arrive at the insight. Between the two of us, (or, in the case of
romance
relationships, the three of us) we determine what is it you do on a
daily
basis that keeps you from getting your needs met, and how to adjust
behaviors to improve the quality of life and its relationships
